Why Ultraviolet C
Q&A
WHY ULTRAVIOLET GERMICIDAL IRRADIATION WITH TITANIUM DIOXIDE?
All pathogens will find their way to the lower levels and eventually end up on the floor and walls. The use of two UV-C units at ceiling and waist heights ensures maximum protection at all levels. Furthermore, titanium dioxide enhances this efficacy.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT XDR TB.
Q. Can I catch XDR TB?
A. Yes. TB can be very infectious in certain conditions!
Q. Where am I most likely to catch TB?
A. Because the TB bacillus is transmitted by aerosol contact, any situations that have poor ventilation and are crowded can be considered as high risk areas. Typical examples are; buses and taxis with closed windows, Banking halls and any area where there are lots of people living or working in confined areas with air conditioning or poor ventilation. Areas with rapid air changes such as kitchens and toilets (as many as 4 to 6 air changes an hour as per WHO guidelines), are not high risk areas. This will also include buildings that have open windows.
Q. If I live or work in an air conditioned environment, what can I do to reduce my risk of exposure to TB?
A. Open doors and windows to nature is one of the best ways of preventing exposure as the TB bacillus dies rapidly if exposed to fresh air and sunlight.
Q. What can I do if I cannot open the doors and windows?
A. Install Ultra Violet units. A correctly sized UVGI (Ultra Violet Germicidal Irradiation) system, correctly installed and checked by a qualified and approved UV Ozone Technician will reduce the level of air-borne micro-organisms to below harmful levels.
Q. Is UV light harmful?
A. Yes if incorrectly installed. Many companies have purchased functional but dangerous equipment that are unsafe to the occupants.
YOU CANNOT remove a florescent light and replace it with an UV lamp! You will hospitalize everyone with severe Arc Eyes that comes in contact with that lamp.
All equipment sold or manufactured by Ozone Purification Technology in South Africa is tested for safety by the SABS or an approved affiliated Company.
